Lai Ruea Fai Festival: The Magnificent Beauty of the Mekong River 🛶✨
The Lai Ruea Fai (Illuminated Boat Procession) is an ancient tradition long preserved by the people of Thailand’s Northeast (Isan), held annually during the End of Buddhist Lent (Ok Phansa). It is most famously and grandly celebrated in the provinces along the Mekong River, particularly in Nakhon Phanom, where it is aptly known as the World Illuminated Boat Festival.
The heart of the event is the Ruea Fai (Illuminated Boats), which are meticulously crafted vessels. Built with bamboo frames, each boat is at least 80 meters long and stands between 20-35 meters high. They are adorned with tens of thousands of lamps, meticulously designed to depict stories from Buddhism, honor the Nation and the Monarchy, and reflect the unique local identity of each district that participates in the tradition.
As the night of the End of Buddhist Lent arrives, the illuminated boats are set afloat down the Mekong River, and the lights are simultaneously ignited. This creates a breathtaking spectacle of shimmering light that fills the entire waterway. This makes the Lai Ruea Fai Festival the most important cultural Soft Power of Nakhon Phanom, successfully attracting both Thai and international tourists to witness the stunning art of light along the Mekong.

ประเพณีไหลเรือไฟ: ความงดงามแห่งแม่น้ำน้ำโขง 🛶✨
ประมวลภาพบรรยากาศประเพณีไหลเรือไฟ — ประเพณีเก่าแก่ที่สืบทอดกันมาอย่างยาวนานของชาวอีสานที่จัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปีช่วงออกพรรษา โดยเฉพาะจังหวัดที่ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำโขงอย่างที่จังหวัดนครพนม ซึ่งถือเป็นสถานที่จัดงานที่ยิ่งใหญ่และมีชื่อเสียงที่สุด เรียกได้ว่าเป็นมหกรรมไหลเรือไฟโลก
หัวใจของงาน คือ เรือไฟ ซึ่งเป็นเรือที่ถูกประดิษฐ์ขึ้นอย่างวิจิตรตระการตา โครงสร้างทำด้วยไม้ไผ่ แต่ละลำเรือมีความยาวไม่ต่ำกว่า 80 เมตร ความสูงตั้งแต่ 20-35 เมตร ประดับตกแต่งด้วยตะเกียงดวงไฟนับหมื่นดวง ออกแบบเป็นลวดลายเรื่องราวทางพระพุทธศาสนา เชิดชูสถาบันชาติ พระมหากษัตริย์ และสะท้อนเอกลักษณ์พื้นถิ่นของแต่ละอำเภอที่สร้างเรือไฟเพื่อร่วมในงานประเพณี
เมื่อถึงค่ำคืนวันออกพรรษา เรือไฟจะถูกปล่อยให้ไหลลงสู่แม่น้ำโขงพร้อมกับการจุดไฟ ทำให้เกิดเป็นภาพแสงไฟที่ระยิบระยับเต็มท้องน้ำ ทำให้ประเพณีไหลเรือไฟถือเป็น Soft Power ทางวัฒนธรรมที่สำคัญที่สุดของจังหวัดนครพนม ดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติให้มาเยี่ยมชมความงดงามของศิลปะแสงไฟริมแม่น้ำโขง
